How to Target Followers on Twitter

A significant following on Twitter is a powerful asset to the modern day entrepreneur. The visibility of your brand, website and product are crucial elements in the success of any business, especially a startup. The greatest piece of insight in regards to Twitter marketing is to know your followers, providing valuable content to their needs and desires. The three types of key followers any startup entrepreneur must target are obviously consumers, super users, and highly visible brands.

First and foremost, as a startup entrepreneur, the primary focus of all marketing efforts should always lie with the consumer. Direct contact with individuals and or businesses is the most powerful way to make a lasting impression. This being said in regard to the consumer, we turn to the cliche phrase “content is key”. When focusing on this type of follower, it is crucial to provide valuable content to engage on a deeper level, one that will motivate to action. Creating content that is useful to these followers can build a lasting impression and level of assurance, and can have a large positive impact on brand image and awareness.

The “super user” is the next type of follower to target. This user typically is an expert in a related niche or field, providing valuable insight and information. Due to these contributing facts, they will most likely have a massive following. By interacting with these super users, retweeting them and providing great content they will want to share with their own following, great relationships can be built and the greater your chances are to be seen by thousands of potential consumers.

The final follower we want to focus on is the branded, established user. These types typically are wide known in a related industry or field and have already created a great image and following. Through this type of interaction, not only is there a possibility to have your content visible to the masses, it allows you to build strong lasting relationships within a powerful network. This can lead to potential affiliations in the future.

The primary key to focus on when providing content via Twitter holds true for all content based marketing: create unique, valuable information useful to users you wish to target. By doing so, it can create a lasting impression on all types of users and lead to the overall growth of your startup or established business alike.

Traits of a Successful Startup CEO: Part I

With all the buzz about the Zuckerbergs of the world, the life of the modern startup CEO is sometimes projected as a very glamorous place to be. Someday, that very well may be the case. But what you won’t read in the articles on Techcrunch is what it really takes to spearhead a start up, the nitty gritty stuff essential to become a successful CEO. Here are five traits that stand out to us in Part I of this installment.

Don’t be afraid of failure- As someone with the final say on an idea or concept, it can be tough to abandon something much time and effort has been put into. However, you cannot be afraid to walk away from something that is not working. If used correctly, failure can manipulated into a positive asset, allowing you to analyze and implement new strategies and solutions.

Be a great communicator-This can be said for all business ventures. Communication is the key component in an efficient system. This concept holds relevant from the top down, beginning with the CEO. A clear message must be conveyed in order ensure things not being missed. However, this can work both ways. A good CEO is also open to criticism, welcoming any and all feedback.

Get down and dirty- While no one is suggesting becoming an expert in all the inner workings of their startup, a successful CEO should have basic skills and understanding of all aspects of the operation. This knowledge will help formulate strategies, allocate more time and resources to needed areas, and can help guide the startup down the right path.

Set goals and milestones- It is essential for a startup to create goal and milestones for itself, and to hold itself accountable. Goals not only allow you to track progress, but act as motivation along the way. Goals should be set to push limits, yet not so far as to be unattainable.

Take one for the team- The ups and downs of the start up life can put much stress on all parties involved. It is the responsibility of the CEO to take the weight of that stress off the team, in order for them to remain effective. Heavy lays the crown.
